Latest military reports from Somalia and referenced by open sources indicate that, humiliated Al-Shabaab suicide bomber rammed a vehicle fitted with explosives (VBIED) in a popular hotel in Somali’s capital Mogadishu.
According to security officials and also said by eyewitnesses, a truck went off at Dayah hotel, then heavily armed men (about seven) fired their way into the ground of the hotel.
SNA and AMISOM forces responded to the siege. The suicide bomber died instantly in the first blast. Deaths expected from either side as the militants reportedly holed up inside the hotel.
Another blast reportedly heard minutes after the first blast.
Dozens of Somalis caught up in the blast — wounded already rushed to a nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
"Shooting is taking place. It is too early to know more details," Major Ali Hussein, a police officer at the scene, told the Reuters news agency.
The hotel is popular among politicians, government officials and entrepreneurs.
