23rd December 2015, unverified military reports coming from Somalia reveal that the head of Al-Shabaab operations in Somalia, Abuu Uteyba might have been killed in unidentified drone strikes that targeted his convoy near Kunturwaarey town, lower shabelle region, Somalia.
The Somali based Islamist group in the past few months has suffered significant blows with US drone strikes killing the outfit top figures.
Among the recently killed include Al-Shabaab commanders; Abdirahaman Sandhere, overall commander of Lower Shabelle region Sheikh Mohamed Abdalla killed alongside two other commanders and 11 other fighters.
Al Shabaab suffered huge operational loss when US drone strikes raided on encampment in southern Somalia killing their Chief, Ahmed Abdi Godane in September of 2014.
Al-Shabaab militant group has been dislodged from key towns and strongholds across the Somalia since the entry of African Union peacekeeping troops.
