South West state forces supported by allied AMISOM forces have recaptured a small town in Bakool from the militants.
The joint forces on Sunday afternoon have recaptured El Garas village, near Tiyeglow town in Bakool region without much resistance from the Al Qaeda-linked Al shabaab fighters who reportedly fled from the area upon the narrowing on them by joint forces.
The militants had seized control of regained El Garas and other key towns in the region, including Tiyeglow district in Bakool region after Ethiopian troops reportedly made a surprise tactical withdrawal.
In the past few weeks Al-Shabaab has intensified surprise attacks in an effort to disrupt the crucial parliamentary and presidential election which started early this month.
