Somali’s capital Mogadishu is on high security alert for possible terror attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to deputy mayor of Mogadishu Mohamed Ahmed Dirie, securities agencies have been put on high alert in readiness of a possible terror attack during the holy month.
Jihadists are known to conduct martyrdom missions during Ramadan and security is alert to make sure such attempts are neutralized.
Speaking at a press conference in Mogadishu, Dirie confirmed of a possible attack by Al-Shabaab militants or ISIS wing. Security has been beefed across the capital by local forces with joint effort from local district administrations and residents. AMISOM is also taking part in securing Somalia.
Security has also been heightened at Mogadishu airport with though screening being put in place.
Following an expected visit by Turkish president Racep Tayyep Erdogan to Mogadishu, 2nd time in less than two years, security is all high.
