Security Ministry in Somalia on Tuesday September 29th announced new and strict security regulations expected to be met by all hotel owners in the country.
Hotels in the capital, Mogadishu which mainly house diplomats and other high level government and business officials have been sternly ordered to execute the order failure to which relevant penalties will be imposed.

The Ministry of Security in Somalia on Tuesday 29th september announced strict security upgrades that all hotels especially those in the capital Mogadishu are expected to adhere to with immediate effect.
Hotels in the Mogadishu have been easy targets for the al Shabaab militants to launch attacks on soft targets. Hotels in Mogadishu house envoys, business personalities, diplomats and other high level people that work and or visit Somalia.
The instructions given have penalties attached to them in the event of any violation or delayed implementation. They are:
- CCTV cameras should be installed with no blind spots giving clear coverage of both the front and rear of all hotels.
- Strong defensive blocks or fence should be installed
- The hotels should have trained security guards with quick response time and agility in executing their jobs
- All hotels should have easily accessible entrances, exits and emergency exits to allow for easy exit and or rescue in case of any emergency.
The security measures ordered by te security ministry re expected to provide safety for all hotel visitors and tenants thus minimizing the human and property damage in the event of an attack by the militants who target hotels.
