The Somalia based Al-Shabaab claim to have briefly advanced on a small town in Garissa County near the Kenyan border with Somalia.
Shabaab through its propaganda mouthpiece, Radio Andulus and posted on their news outlet, shahada news claimed that their soldiers briefly seized Haluqu area of Garissa and later withdrew without firing a single shot.
The claimed seizure comes a few days after the Somali based Islamist Al-Shabaab vandalized Safaricom communication mast in Hulugho area in the same county of Garissa.
The Al-Qaeda affiliated group continues to cross over to the Kenyan border prefectures with Somalia, vandalize critical communication masts before sneaking back into Somalia.
Security units along the border with Somalia to increase patrols and at the same time change their patrol routines as well as the routes they use on daily basis.
To beef up security on critical infrastructures and assets by deploying National Police Reservists (NPR) units as supplementary security.
