The leader of the moderate Islamist group Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, Sheikh Shakir Ali Hassan who is also the Chief Minister of the Galmudug state government has vowed to defend its territories amid escalating tension with Federal Government (FGS).
The leader blamed FGS of technically withdrawing from the agreement it signed with his group by deploying more troops to the state capital, Dusamreb.
He was responding to the recent deployment of more federal forces in Dusamareb, accused the FGS of violating all the agreements it signed with his group.
Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, leader called on the group’s members to defend their territory, accusing Farmajo’s government of deploying troops led by ‘former Al-Shabaab leaders’ to the region.
Reports from Dusamareb town, the administrative capital of Galmudug state say that more new troops were deployed yet again to the town. Reports say that planes carrying federal government military troops and ammunition have arrived in Dusamareb for the second consecutive day.
On another platform, the Minister of Interior, Federalism and Reconciliation, Abdi Mohamed Sabriye, who spoke in Dusamareb, downplayed that FGS had violated any of the 10 articles signed with Ahlu Sunnah.
The Federal Government of Somalia and Ahlu Sunnah had signed an agreement to jointly administer Dusamareb and other areas in July.
