The United Nation Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, Micheal Keating, has intervened and asked for the end of hostility between Somaliland and Puntland forces following the recent fighting in the Tukaraq area of Sool region.
The UN has urged both sides to engage in dialogue and work towards a ceasefire.
The fighting between Puntland and Somaliland could displace thousands of people and fuel instability and discord which in turn allows violent extremist groups to grow.
