Somali police on Tuesday 26th January 2016 arrested a man making improvised explosive devices in Jowhar town.
Jowhar town is the capital of Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.
While addressing the press, the regional police commander of the Middle Shabelle region Col. Khalif Abdi Abdulle, he said the man was apprehended from Hanti-Wadag, a village in Jowhar while making explosives.
Col. Khalif Abdi Abdulle thanked the locals who provided the police with information that led to his arrests.
The police commander said that the man in custody will be interrogated to provide more leads on areas the IEDs were targeted to be used.
Jowhar is a key target for the Somalia based Al-Shabaab citing its currently hosting the formation of autonomous state of Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.
In Jowhar town there are delegations from all part of these two regions making it a key target by the jihadist group.
On Monday 25th January 2016 there was thorough security mop-up operation in Jowhar which was jointly conducted by officers from the police and the intelligence agency (NISA).
