MOGADISHU, Somalia’s security officers on Tuesday 23rd February 2016 arrested a senior Al-Shabaab commander in a Mogadishu hotel.
Through a statement, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) confirmed about the arrested but did not disclose the identity of the fighter.
NISA said the commander was arrested in a hotel in Bakaro market, the biggest market in Mogadishu.
Security forces raided a special operation at Golden Hotel in the busy market and arrested a senior terrorist commander along with several members of is network.
NISA confirmed the arrested commander had a huge bounty reward on his head. Details of the arrested members will be released once the militants are questioned by the security officers.
The arrested of the senior Al-Shabaab commanders came after another 300 people were netted in operations carried out in Benadir region in the intensified crackdown that began this week.
