Somalia National Army SNA has acquired new arms including assault riffles and grenade launchers from the United States state department.
USA has also provided SNA with military trucks, water tanks, pick-up vehicles, and military uniform.
SNA received 16 military trucks, 4-Toyota Hilux, and 4-four-wheeled vehicles to be used by the Somalia military.
Japan has also chipped in with a significant contribution to the Somali policing efforts by providing police equipment and resources
Japan gave Somalia police forces, 16-Land Cruisers, 2-ambulances, 2 police trucks, bullet proof vests and helmets, and an assortment of weaponry.

NA needs to reorganize and get a new look as part of their transition to a full regular army with well defined roles besides an orderly rank and file.
During the hand over ceremony, the presiding guests included Kenya’s Wafula Wamunyinyi, an indicator of Kenya’s high stakes in the Somali transition process.
