A woman of Somali origin arrested in July 2014 in U.S. and reported to have been funding the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorist group arraigned in court.
The woman willingly admitted to be an ardent supporter of the Somalia-based terrorist group but her defense Lawyer Paula Deutsch also acknowledging that her client supports jihadist group argued that there was no prove that she has been offering financial support to the Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The Lawyer argued that all her client did was ‘talk’ about supporting Al-Shabaab without her taking action.
The terrorist woman identified as Hinda Osman Dhirane, 44 years old and a mother of six, was arrested in July 2014 at her home in Kent, Washington.
According to a report by U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Dhirane was charged of providing material support to Al-Shabaab, a listed forest terrorist organization waging violent insurgency in Somalia.
Court records showed Dhirane funneled small amounts of money to the terrorist group to avoid detection — as low as $50 or $100 at a time, for a total of less than $5,000.
Dhirane trial is taking place at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and began on July 11.
