The Somali authorities working on intelligence were able on Tuesday 2nd September 2015 to nab dozens of members of the Harakat Al Shabaab Al Mujahideen near Diinsoor town in Bay region.
The arrest is part of an ongoing violent operation to wipe out terrorists from the remaining affected areas in southern Somalia as other operations target key parts in central Somalia.

After their attack In Janaale and their aftermath release of propaganda video that showed killing of dozens of Uganda soldiers, the terrorists were planning another major attack near Diinsoor town in Bay region. However working on intelligence, the attack was thwarted and the potential attackers nabbed.
The recent attack by Al Shabaab militants on an AU base in Janaale has sparked aggression within Somali National Army troops fighting militants with capable backing of AMISOM troops.
With cooperation between SNA, Somali police, AMISOM police with civilians, the authorities have been able to narrow down on dozens of militants who are undergoing screening to provide information in tracking down more terrorists. The arrest made in Bay region is a major achievement by this operation.
Elsewhere in villages near Elbuur town in Galgaduud region of central Somalia, Somali’s government soldiers backed by the AMISOM troops killed dozens of HSM militants in an exchange of heavy fire that the militants were far from meeting.
AMISOM warplanes have destroyed several bases linked to Al Shabaab in Elbuur and the attack on the army base seen as a retaliatory attack for several humiliations the jihadist group has suffered from the government forces and AMISOM troops.
And even as the Al Shabaab continue to organize themselves into active terror cells in Somalia, staging attacks on civilians, government officials and the AU troops, they equally suffer significant losses from anti-terror operations. They are killed by the day in large numbers while some of them surrender to authorities, seeing no future within the terror walls.
