Somalia soldiers have been promised better war equipment to help them deal with Al Shabaab insurgency. Commander of government soldiers’ sector 21 Abdullahi Ali Anood said that Somalia National Army (SNA) will be properly equipped with modern military vehicles, weapons as well uniforms.
While the local media, Colonel Ali said that Somalia Army will continue with military offensive against the Al Shabaab militants in Hiran, Galgaduud and Mudug provinces. They will also receive military supplies.
In May 2015, Italian government delivered military equipment a total of 54 armored and personnel carrier vehicles to Somali National Army.
The Interim Jubba Administration of Somalia has also received military vehicles donated by the United Arab Emirates, including RG-31 armoured personnel carriers. In January, United States sent MRAPS to Somalia to boost African Union Mission war against the Al Shabaab.
The colonel’s word came after anti-Al Shabaab military campaigns intensifies by Somalia National Army backed by the African Union Mission in Somalia troops.
From mid July 2015, Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen (HSM) has suffered huge blows from SNA and allied forces. Dozens of the jihadist fighters have been killed, several strongholds have been captured. The Shebabs have been forced to retreat while most their logistical and operations camps have been destroyed.

As the Somalia National Army and AMISOM troops continue to make significant gains against the Somalia Mujahideen fighters, caution should be exercised as these fighters may have employed tactical withdrawal whereby they may have retreated to prevent further loss of their fighters. The militants may regroup and make surprise attacks and retake the regions already liberated.
