The Somali National Army (SNA) took over the responsibility of the UAE military unit training academy in Mogadishu.
On Saturday, the Chief of Defense Staff Abdullahi Ali Anod told journalists that all the UAE trained forces and the military academy are now under the umbrella of the national army.
The CDF noted that SNA will assume full responsibility of the forces that had been trained by UAE including the payment of their salaries.
During the handover, the army chief received military vehicles, trucks and ambulances among other weaponry at the academy. He also thanked UAE for equipping the army and building the facility for Somali Government

The handover follows UAE’s announcement last week it was ending military training and payment of salaries to over 2407 soldiers in Mogadishu. This move came after authorities in Somalia seized $9.6 million in Aden Adde airport in Mogadishu which the government has since said it will return to the Gulf nation.
