Somali National Army (SNA) killed a senior Al-Shabaab commander in
a military operation conducted in Bakol region in southwestern Somalia.
According to Warsame Mahamed Diriye, commander of SNA section 60’s unit nine, the
SNA forces killed a senior Al-Shabaab leader in an operation conducted on
Friday afternoon in the vicinity of Shidle in the country’s southern region of
Bakol following intelligence tip-off from the locals.
The Shabab leader identified as Aliyow Iman Ibrahim was a prominent operational
commander of Al-Shabaab terrorist group. A member of his staff was also injured
in the operation.
Somali forces backed by African Union Mission in Somalia continue to intensify operations on Al-Shabaab extremists in central and southern Somalia, conducting consecutive offensives to drive the extremist combatants out of these regions.
