Somali National Army (SNA) supported by AMISOM troops killed 35 Al-Shabaab terrorist fighters in Qoryoley town, Lower Shabelle of southern Somalia.
In an intelligence-led operation, the joint forces intercepted the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab as they attempted to stage an attack in Qoryorey town.
Abdi Ahmed Ali, the Deputy Governor of the town confirmed that SNA forces and their allied partners killed over 30 terrorists and injured several others in a close battle quarters with the terrorists.
Al-Shabaab surge has been reported in the southern part of Somalia in the past few months though counterterrorism efforts continue to avert terrorists’ attempted attacks across all regions and sectors in Somalia.
