Somali National Army (SNA), supported by AMISOM troops managed battle and repulse Al-Shabaab militants who attempted to raid their military bases in Qoryoley.
Corresponding open sources reports indicate that SNA and allied forces killed 13 militants inflicting heavy losses on the Al-Qaeda linked group that aim was to attack their military base.
Al-Shabaab militants lost most of their weaponry, including two pickups (technicals) mounted with guns, AK-47 rifles, RPGs and machine guns in the overnight clash in Qoryoley district in Lower Shabelle region about 120 km north west of Mogadishu.
Qoryoley, a strategic agricultural-rich district in Lower Shabelle region fell to SNA and AMISOM in 2014, after dislodging the militants out of the town in a joint military operation though they still carry out sporadic attacks targeting security forces or their establishments.
