The Somali National Army (SNA) supported by AMISOM forces have recaptured the of Abiikarow located in the outskirt of Marko, Lower Juba from the al Shabaab. The troops entered the two from two different location acting on intelligence that the town was marred by massive al Shabaab presence.
According to security officials, the operation was a major success as AMISOM troops provided the much need tank support that saw the militants suffer significant losses and flee the town. Abiikarow has been under the siege of al Shabaab for many years, and the recapture is another sign that the militants will soon be defeated.
