Somali Forces Kill Three Al-Shabaab Operatives as Forces Launch Offensive in Gedo

Saturday 18/2/2017, Somali launched an offensive in Gedo region near Somalia border with Kenya.

At least three Al-Shabaab operatives were killed in the offensive aimed at pacifying the region which mostly has been used by the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab as attacks launching pad.

According to Lt Col. Farah Abdi, three terror operatives were killed and two others wounded in the fresh operation carried out in Gedo region over the past 48 hours.

Lt Col. Abdi who was leading the troops noted that, the CT-operations will continue to root out Al-Shabaab operatives from the remaining pockets in the Somalia-Kenya border areas, to prevent further attacks against government bases.

The SNA commander called on close cooperation between KDF-AMISOM troops in decimating the terror operatives in the area.
