The Somali-based Al-Shabaab terrorist group in an effort to remain relevant continues to hit soft targets sporadically killing or injuring innocent Somalis.
In an attack believed to be orchestrated by the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab on Saturday evening, five innocent Somalis were injured after mortar shells were fired at Buluhubey village.
The militants have been trying to pull an attack at the security installations and personnel from SNA and AMISOM but have failed. Due to increased military security operations the militants are firing mortar rounds from a distance and inaccurately failing to get to their targets and landing to the innocent civilians.
Open sources (OSINT) referenced Police officer Ahmed Jama on the Saturday mortar shelling fired at a Buluhubey village saying possibly the militant were targeting the AMISOM base or the Aden Adde International Airport but failed to get to their target.
Witnesses said the injured included children and had been rushed to hospital.
Al-Shabaab has so far not commented on the failed Saturday attack.
