Somali National Army forces have reportedly retaken control of Elwak Town in Somalia’s Gedo region. The report was according to the military sources on the ground in the region.
The forces launched the battle wagons into the town on Wednesday following intelligence reports from locals that indicated the apparent capture of the town by al Shabaab fighters. The military has since retaken control of the town as calm restores to the area.
SNA troops have been recapturing towns in different parts of the country as they prepare to regain control of swathes of land in Somalia, with the help of African Union and US forces.
