Latest reports from Somalia indicate that Somali National Army (SNA) forces supported y allied forces killed 25 Al-Shabaab militants in the port the port city of Sanguuni, about 50 kilometers from the port city of Kismayo.
According to division 43 army commander, Ismail Saxaradiid, a successful operation in Baar Sanguuni area, was coordinate between government forces and international forces following on intelligence tip-off.
Somali National Army supported by American forces attacked Al-Shabaab den in Sanguuni town from two different directions, killed over two dozen Al-Shabaab militants and captured weapons and military equipment left by Al-Shabaab fighters.
The joint operation also saw 35 Al-Shabaab fighters captured as the forces took over the control of the town.
Also, Staff Sgt. Alexander W. Conrad who was assigned to the 1st battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group was killed during the operation. According to pentagon Conrad was supporting Operation Octave Shield. Four other U.S troops and a partner force member were also wounded during the encounter.
