SNA and AMISOM troops have battled the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab flushing them out of Gal’ad town, a strategic town in Galgaduud region.
Gal’ad town lies in central Somalia and has served as a key stronghold for the Al-Shabaab militants for the last eight years.
The allied forces moved from their military bases in Bud-Bud village and entered Gal’ad town from different corners, a number of militants caught unaware were welcomed by the sound of gunfire.
Bud-Bud is located just 30 kilometers (19 miles), west of Gal’ad town.
Corresponding reports from the local residents confirms SNA and AMISOM troops conducted security operation in the Gal’ad setting up defensive formations outside the town, to fend off a possible counter-offensive from Al-Shabaab.
