Somali and AMISOM forces on Sunday night successfully repulsed attack from the Al-Qaeda affiliate, Al-Shabaab in Qoryoley in Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.
According to Somali army sources, Al-Shabaab fighters attacked a military position in Qoryoley town that prompted hours of heavy fighting between the Somali army and heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters.
Reports from residents correspond that loud explosions and gunshots were heard as Al-Shabaab fighters attacked a military base in the town prompting the government army soldiers to respond. Al-Shabaab retreated after backup from AMISOM.
