Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that SNA, supported by AMISOM began anti-al-Shabaab campaigns in Southwestern Bakool region of Somalia.
Corresponding report by Rabdhure district commissioner Mohamed Kheyr Salad, the new joint military offensive aimed at liberating areas remaining under the control of the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab.
Mr. Salad stressed that the army offensive expected to continue until all areas/localities threatened by Al-Shabaab presence are liberated.
During the operation, the army will re-open the major roads connecting Rabdhure to Hudur town that has been blocked by the militants for years for extortion purposes by militants manning the blockades.
Hundreds of SNA and AMISOM troops have been deployed for another fresh offensive against Al-Shabaab militants in rural areas between Rabdhure and Hudur towns.
The operations follow after an Al-Shabaa ambush attack on Somali military convoy near Hudur town, the headquarters of Bakol region on Thursday.
