Recent military reports from Somalia indicate that a joint military swoop by Somali government forces, SNA and African Union peacekeepers, AMISOM rounded up 313 Al-Shabaab suspects in operation carried out in Daynile district of Mogadishu.
According to Ahmednur Abdi Siyad, the District Commissioner of Daynile, the Tuesday military operation was conducted in Kurdamac and Halgan villages in Daynile in the morning where 313 suspected Al-Shabaab members were arrested.
Ahmednur Abdi Siyad further noted that the military operation was aimed at ensuring peace and security in the district by flushing out Al-Shabaab elements.
Siyad added that the operation will continue until the district is eliminated off remnants of the Al Qaeda affiliated terrorists group.
Similar military operations by SNA and AMISOM troops have been going on in the rest of the capital Mogadishu in the past two weeks.
Security in Somalia is being heightened as the country is nearing election set to be held between September and October, 2016.
