Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that at least six members of Al-Shabaab terrorist group were killed on Monday night in Qoryoley, Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.
The source further report that, a fierce gun battle ensued after the Al-Qaeda aligned terrorists attempted to stage an attack on a military base run by the Somali army and African Union forces in Qoryoley town.
Six terrorists were killed while several others retreated into the bushes with fatal injuries. In the same region of Lower Shabelle, ten Al-Shabaab terrorists had earlier been killed after attempted attacks in SNA military bases in El-Salini and Barire towns.
These persistent attacks signals of increased terrorist activities in southern region of Somalia. Military assets need to come with strategies to mount pressure on the Islamist terrorists in this prone region.
