UPDATE: Security forces carried out a security mop-up operation in Jowhar town, the interim administrative host of Hirshabelle state, whereby scores of suspected Al-Shabaab operatives were arrested.
Military reports from Somalia indicate that joint forces (SNA & AMISOM) conducted search operations in several neighborhood and houses in the southern town. Several suspects were arrested in connection with a grenade attack that targeted a local elder – Sheikh Muse who participated in the recent concluded polls.
One member of Sheikh Muse’s security guard was killed in the blast while several civilians were caught up in the blast and wounded.
Suspects arrested following public tip-off have provided police with viable intelligence on areas the Islamist terrorists are plan to strike in the coming days, thus readying for them.
