A senior Al-Shabaab operatives on Wednesday, 10th July 2019 surrendered to Somali forces in Baar-sanguuni, Lower Jubba region in southern Somalia.
Confirming the report, Ismael Sheekh Isak, the commander of Somali forces unit 11 section 43 in Lower Jubba said that a senior Al-Shabaab leader identified as Huseen Hasan Cambeer surrendered to Somali National Armed Forces (SNA) in Baar-sanguuni, Lower Jubba and handed over his rifle.
Al-Shabaab operatives continue to denounce the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia over poor and hostile conditions within the terror camps. Most of the terror operatives who have in the past surrendered have narrated of horrifying experience fighting for Al-Shabaab including; going for days without food, executions, suspicions and poor pay among other reasons.
