Senegalese Chief of Air Staff, General Joseph Mamadou Diop on Sunday 6th October 2019 took a test-fly of the new L-39NG light attack aircraft ahead of delivery. The test-flight that lasted for about an hour according to Aero Vodochody.
The Aero Vodochody also noted that the first prototype of L-39NG, new jet trainer and light attack aircraft, is currently undergoing intensive flight tests and that Senegal’s Air Force is the first customer.
Senegal in April 2018 placed an order for four aircraft. Senegalese President Macky Sally announced the acquisition during the country’s national day celebration.
The L-39NG aircraft is the light attack version and also comes with full training capability. The aircraft is a modern and effective trainer designed for modern air forces.



The aircraft’s avionics can be custom-made to the customer’s requirements and train future pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft. The L-39NG is equipped with five hard-points for weapons for various munitions.
The sale contract covers the training of pilots, including conversion, instructor and combat training, maintenance personnel training, spare parts, ground support equipment and logistic support services.
After the test-flight, General Joseph Diob disclosed that he was happy for the opportunity offered to try the aircraft ahead of the delivery. He noted that it was a great experience, Aero test pilot Vladimír showed him the great maneuverability of the aircraft.
