Security forces on Saturday 20th February 2016 launched a major security sweep in Dharkenleey District.
The operation saw several Al-Shabaab militants being arrested. The security forces ordered hundreds of commuters to get out of public and private vehicles they were travelling in and identity parade was performed.
The operation was jointly led by police commissioner and Dharkenleey district commissioner.
Commuters were urged to work hand in hand with security forces to keep the district peaceful and secure.
Public urged to share information/intelligence (HUMINT) with security forces to eliminate Al-Shabaab militants and their sympathizers.
Dharkenleey district commissioner, Omar Meyre Maow warned the public not to hide Al-Shabaab and their sympathizers. Every resident urged to know his or her neighbor.
The security operations in Somalia have been intensified. In Mogadishu crackdown, dozen militants were arrested on Saturday while AMISOM conducted successful raids in Gedo region on the Militants’ Camp in Tulo Barwaqo village some 20 kilometers from Garbaharey.
The operations follows assassinations of key public figures including former Somalia Defence Minister killed in a car explosion last week.
