Kenyan police have arrested a man from Saudi Arabia near the Kenya-Somali border town of Kiunga.
The man Ahmed Hanas is believed to have sailed in a fishing boat from Malindi’s Ngomeni area to Kiunga in Lamu East district.
Ahmed Hanas has no documents to show his nationality or purpose of being in the country.
He had difficulty communicating in either English or Kiswahili.
A speedboat often used by terrorist to ferry young men from Kenya to Somalia for militancy training was seized by the police upon his arrest.
The boat is also used to ferry fighters between Kenya and Somalia.
The man is suspected to be a link between Al-Shabaab and some Kenyan recruiters and could be the point man in the logistics to ferry young men to Somalia for training.
The man has been handed over to the ATPU for further debriefing and screening.
Ahmed Hanas will be arraigned in court to answer charges
