A Saudi warship that was targeted by Yemeni rebels has managed to return to its home port in Jeddah Monday 6th February 2017, Saudi Arabia’s national news agency has reported.
The frigate that was attacked by Huthi rebels while patrolling the Red Sea has safely returned to Jeddah as planned,” the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Saudi Arabia last week has confirmed of the attack saying two sailors were killed and three others wounded when their warship Al-Madinah was hit by a Yemeni rebel “suicide” boat strike off the Red Sea port of Hodeida.
The Huthi rebels boasted they hit the ship with a guided missile.
Since then United States has deployed the USS Cole to the Bab Al-Mandab strait connecting the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, US defense official has revealed.
In October 2000, seventeen US military personnel were killed aboard the USS Cole in an attack in the Yemeni port city of Aden claimed by Al-Qaeda terrorist group.
