Russian and Malian defense ministers have signed an agreement on military cooperation in Russia. The document was signed at the ARMY 2019 International Military and Technical Forum.
The deal is set to help the Malian troops fight internal insurgencies, tribal clashes as well as terrorist offshoots that have since created havens in Mali.
Since Western nations sanctioned Russia for annexing Crimea in 2014, Moscow has signed at least 19 military cooperation deals in sub-Saharan Africa, including with Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe, according to its foreign and defense ministries and state media.
While the exact details of the military cooperation are yet to be revealed, it is quite evident that Russia will offer military equipment to Mali as she did in the Central African Republic.
