Britain scrambled two Royal Air Force jets to intercept two Russian Tupolev Tu-95s which were flying in the international skies Wednesday.
Intelligence officials confirmed that two Russian war planes were headed for British airspace were intercepted by Leuchars in Fife airbase Typhoons off the coast of Scotland.
The incident is not extraordinary nor related to Ukraine crisis rather was a routine test of British air force responses by the Russian Defense department.
The Tupolev Tu-95s remained steady in the international skies as the Typhoons watched and checked their manoeuvrings.
British defense confirmed that the Tupolev Tu-95s were conducting a simulation and that it was not a Tupolev Tu-95s-Typhoon face-off.
