Somalia: Thursday 3rd September 2015, Qoryooley administration embanked on rebuilding of a bridge that was destroyed by the Al Shabaab militants on Monday.
Al Shabaab had blown up the bridge with a donkey cart packed with explosives. Later the militants attacked the AU army base at Janaale. The destruction of the bridge has stalled the movement of locals and secluded the town in the last few days.
Mohamed Haji Osman, Qoryooley District Commissioner told the local media in Mogadishu that the renovation of the bridge is being participated by local administration and traders in the town.
The destruction of the bridge was tactical strategy by the Al Shabaab militants aimed to deny access the African Union troops from escaping attacks on their military base in Janaale town in Lower Shabelle region.
