President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali commended troops for their continued gains over the outlawed al Shabaab especially in the wake of the recent terror attack on UNICEF vehicle.
The Puntland leader, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali commended Puntland Defence Forces (PDFs) for pressing ahead with offensives against militants in the rugged terrain of Galgala, 50km southwest of Bossaso port city.
Speaking in response to the remarks by Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who pledged that his administration would help Puntland deter threats following UN bus bombing, Ali said Putland was able to tackle al Shabaab.
On Monday, Al Shabaab suicide bomber targeted UNICEF staff in deadly attack in front of main UN compound in Garowe.
The attack, to which al Shabaab claimed responsibility, killed seven people, including four UN staff members working with the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Evers since, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali said, Puntland has been beefing up soldiers presence at key government installations and United Nations facilities.
