Puntland Security agencies have been placed on high alert following credible intelligence that Al-Shabaab is planning to carry out attacks in Puntland areas. The alert was issued after credible intelligence indicated plotted attacks in Garowe town by the al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia, al Shabaab.
Puntland police Chief, Farah Abdirahman Warsame said that the police received credible intelligence confirmed that the group plans to attack Puntland state with Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).
The public in the area has been advised to be vigilant and to work with the law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity to the police especially in the days leading to the end of Ramadhan.
Warsame assured the public of tight security saying that the security forces are closely monitoring activities across the town in order to thwart any imminent attack.
