Puntland government forces have battled Al-Shabaab operatives and killed over a dozen militants in Galgala Mountains.
According to latest military report referenced by open sources in Somalia, the fighting erupted after Al-Shabaab fighters launched an ambush on a Puntland military base in Afuruurshe area of Galgala Mountains in Bari region.
The government forces responded with fierce gun fire, killed more than 12 fighters of the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab, official Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia.
Overwhelmed by the forces, the militants retreated some with gun wounds. Reports further indicate the forces are still trailing the militants.
