Police has intensified search operation for an ex-RECCE Cop who reportedly deserted his duties 2014 and reportedly engaged in criminal activities.
The former RECCE Squad officer identified as Eric Ng’ethe has been asked by IG of police Joseph Boinnet to surrender himself to the authorities before he is arrested.
Police carried out an operation targeting the rogue ex-Recce cop and recovered three AK 47 rifles and 178 round of ammunition at a river bank in Ruiru.
The ex-Recce officer reports on Kenyan media have highly been misreported in several briefs.
In this case, the major publications have continously misreported that the former Recce Squad officer Eric Ng'ethe was radicalized and was planning to attack GSU- Recce Headquarters in Ruiru.
This kind of reporting is dangerous, erroneous and lacks facts leave alone authenticity (source).
When you report that the ex-cop was radicalized then it is logical and expected that he should have converted and changed his name,
How do one cop who deserted his duties then be able to access the GSU-Recce headquarters–Ruiru by himself and conduct attacks? this is impractical and impossible and can only be possible in a movie.
Media misreporting security incidents especially the ones touching Kenya’s security organs is dangerous especially when their sources are not verified.
Ng’ethe case is no different from any other criminal incident and must be treated as such. Not every criminal incident is linked to terrorism unless media want to glorify terrorism as to have infiltrated everywhere in our security system. This kind of reporting is wrong, erranous and must stop.
