Police in Changamwe of Mombasa County on Sunday 14th August 2016 in an operation killed two thugs and recovered several ‘fake ‘police uniforms and firearms.
Flying Squad police officers, following intelligence lead, raided thug’s hideout in KCC,Kipangani area in Jomvu sub-county.
Two criminal thugs were killed and police recovered a G3 riffle, 2 magazines, 3 pairs of ‘Kenya police uniforms’ one beret, one jungle jacket, one police belt, 20 ammunitions, one police radio gadget and a pair of police handcuffs.
Confirming the Sunday 3.45 a.m. incident, Changamwe police boss Stephen Cheteka said the thugs have been carrying out several robberies in Kisauni and Changamwe in disguised police uniforms.
Cheteka said police have been trailing the suspects for the last two months but the suspects have been evading traps laid for them.
The police boss thanked members of the public for sharing intelligence with the police which led to a successful operation.
