Kenyan police beginning Sunday 24th July 2016 are on high alert and prepared to counter any terror threat at the coastal region.
According to Mombasa County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed the detectives drawn from Kenya police and anti-terror unit have been deployed in the busy areas and especially at the busy Likoni crossing channel.
Intelligence reports have warned of security loopholes at the busy Likoni crossing channels calling for immediate action to counter and cement the areas pointed.
Likoni is a busy channel with about 300,000 commuters and 5,500 motorists using ferries services daily according to Kenya Ferry Service.
On Thursday last week police killed two terror suspects in the coastal town and recovered weapons including grenades, 17 rounds of ammunition and two detonators.
Police confirmed the killing ot the two terror members saying they were among the most wanted terror suspect behind past terrorist attacks in Mombasa.
