Police reports from NEP indicate that they are in custody of a man arrested on suspicion of spying and leaking security information to the Al-Shabaab.
The man who has been on police radar for some months is to known to travel to Somalia frequently.
According to Wajir East OCPD Anthony Mbogo, the police arrested Kuna Mohamed Dahir on his way to Somalia on a motorcycle commonly known to locals as boda boda.
Dahir possess a Kenyan identity card and is believed to be among the spies leaking information on the movement and activities of the Kenyan security forces to the Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen Movement (HSM).
Dahir was found in possession of forged documents dated June 19, 2013, which showed that he had served as a police officer in charge of Owsqurun in ElWak division in Somalia.
The letter indicated that Mr Dahir had been appointed to the position by a Somali army major-general in charge of ElWak division.
Mr Mbogo, however, said the Somalia government had already confirmed that Dahir did not serve in any security forces.
