Pakistani Taliban confirmed through a statement released through their pro-media that a senior Al-Qaeda commander was killed in US drones killed commander in Pakistan-Afghan border.
According to Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan (TTP) U.S. drone strike killed Qari Muhammad Yasin, a senior commander from Pakistan’s tribal agency of North Waziristan on March 18.
Also the strike killed, Yusuf Wazir, a Taliban leader who also lost a father and a brother in previous U.S drone strikes, according to the jihadist group.
The TTP announced Wazir’s death in a statement, along with a graphic depicting Wazir’s so-called family of martyrs.
US military has not independently confirmed that it carried out a drone strike that killed Wazir. Additionally, it is unclear if Wazir was killed in Afghanistan or Pakistan.
The deaths of Wazir and Qari Yasin, an al Qaeda leader who was a member of the Punjabi Taliban on March 18, as well as Qari Abdullah Mairaj on March 2, signals of US increased uptick activity the targeting of Pakistani and Afghan jihadists along the commmon border.
