More than two hundred police recruits (202) from Jubbaland state have graduated in Kismayo after completing a three-month training conducted by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and the Somali Police Force.
This is a second of young Somali men and women graduating this year from Jubbaland after undergoing a successful training.
The ceremony held in the beginning of the week was presided by the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC) for Somalia, Lydia Wanyoto.
Also in attendance to the graduation ceremony were AMISOM Police Commissioner, Anand Pillay; Somali Police Force Commissioner, Maj. General Mohamed Sheikh Hamud; Interim Jubbaland Administration Second Deputy President, Abdulkadir Haji Mohamud Luga-Dhere, and representatives from United Nations among others.
Ms Wanyoto congratulated the recruits for completing the intensive training successfully. While congratulating the female graduates, she called on the federal states to continue recruiting more women into the security forces saying joining security forces is one of unifying societies.
Somali Police Force Commissioner, Maj. General Mohamed Sheikh Hamud, congratulated Jubbaland administration for its commitment in securing the region.
Anand Pillay, AMISOM’s Police Commissioner said AMISOM was proud of the officers’ hard work in training calling on them to be ready to serve the country.
