Somali Forces have repulsed an attack on their military base in Lower Jubba region by the Jihadist group, al Shabaab. The incident happened early Sunday morning after heavily armed Al-Shabab fighters stormed SNA base in the outskirt of Kulbiyow town.
According to a military officer, at least 100 al Shabaab fighter attempted an ambush on the SNA military base in the region in the wee hours of Sunday morning by firing mortar shells at the camp.
While casualties have been reported on both sides, the government forces were able to repulse the attack to remain in the control of the military base. Over 20 al Shabaab militants were killed in the botched attack which is seen to be in line with the call by their leader to increase attacks during Ramadhan.
