Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) the Kenyan main opposition party claims the government of the republic of Kenya is planning to rig the 2017 general elections through the new registration of persons project.
Nairobi is pushing the new registration of persons to allow the security arm of the government identify all citizens easily besides help combat crime, particularly terrorism.
The ID project will register all Kenyan’s afresh and will include persons under the age of 18.
The new policy sets biometric information in a super ID card as the benchmark of the project, hence a super ID will help identify any Kenyan within a very short period of time.
It will also help curb issuance of ID cards to people who are not genuine Kenyan’s.
Those born in Kenya will be identified early and identified through the new ID regime.
Coalition for Reforms and Democracy hints that this is a ploy to rig the 2017 election and a scheme to make money by the Kenyan Government.
The party is led by 2013 poll loser Raila Odinga who is currently on a month tour of the United States.
