Boko Haram Commander Abu Mojahid killed by Nigerian troops was on Wednesday confirmed dead alongside other members of the militia group after Nigeria troops ambushed them in a hideout in northern Nigeria.
Nigerian authorities say the group has planned to launch an attack on the troops who were patrolling the area in which they were suspected to be hiding.
The troops also managed to seize weapons, grenades and IEDs from the Boko Haram who have been conducting terror activities in Nigeria.
Authorities however cited that the group had strategically placed IEDs in various parts of the forest, a strategy which was witnessed in Tikrit where the Islamic State had created their own caliphate.
Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau pledged an allegiance to ISIS leader which he equally accepted and welcomed the group. Boko Haram is suspected to be the West African affiliate of ISIS thus they could adopt tactics used by ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
One of Nigeria military sources has however stated that the Nigeria based militia groups could be running out of arms and ammunitions following an offensive operation by the military in Sambiza Forest.
Combined military forces are currently combing the Sambiza Forest through ground ambush and aerial bombardment. Sambiza is where the insurgents are believed to have established their camps.
Killing of top Boko Haram Commander is probably a sign of hope in the fight against the insurgents in Nigeria. Boko Haram has caused a lot of destruction in Borno State leaving the lace deserted as villagers have fled to other areas for safety.
