National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in an overnight operation and destroyed Al-Shabaab terrorist militants’ network in Awdhegle, one of the terror group’s remaining stronghold locality in Lower Shabelle region.
NISA confirmed of the operation against the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab on its twitter account that its security forces successfully destroyed explosives that the terrorists were planning to attack Somali people.
“Security forces captured explosive devices that Al-Shabaab militants had prepared to hurt our people after carrying out successful operation at a center for the group in Awdhegle area overnight. The security forces made sacrifices by saving the people”, NISA said.
The Governorof Lower Shabelle region, Mohamed Ibrahim Bare told media that the NISA forces killed some terrorist fighters during the operation.
Bare added that Somali National Army continued with military operations at Bufow and KM-60 locations and liberated several areas along the beach in the region.
